Journey
Deeper Phil, born Bonga Sibeko, is a South African DJ and music producer from Bethal, Mpumalanga. Rooted in a region not traditionally associated with the country's major music hubs, he built his craft through consistent practice and a disciplined approach to production, developing his skills independently before making a mark on the national stage. His work sits across deep house, afro-house, and amapiano, genres that form the backbone of South Africa's contemporary electronic music movement.
Deeper Phil entered the music industry in 2011, releasing house-influenced music and gradually shaping a production identity that would come to be recognized for its layered arrangements, steady bass movement, and strong atmospheric focus. Over the following decade, he refined his approach and expanded his sound into Afro-house and Amapiano. In 2021, he joined PianoHub, the label founded by Kabza De Small, a significant step that placed him within one of South Africa's most prominent Amapiano imprints. His catalog reflects the breadth of this journey, with releases including the "Bambelela" EP, "Rambo," "Ngowami," "High Senses," and the album "Love & Hate." Across these projects, he has collaborated with Kabza De Small, Young Stunna, Da Muziqal Chef, Shino Kikai, Jay Sax, and Given K. The collective weight of this output has earned him millions of streams and steady recognition among fans and peers in the Amapiano and afro-house communities.
Now active through 2025, Deeper Phil continues to build his catalog under PianoHub. Recent releases, including "Z'loliwe," "Captured Moments," "Angipholanga," and "uNonkosi," reflect an artist who has maintained focus and output without sacrificing the atmospheric quality that defines his production approach. With over a decade of consistent work behind him and a growing body of releases on one of South Africa's most recognized Amapiano labels, his trajectory points to an artist still deepening his reach.
